And in closing: Wonderfully Wicked Read-A-Thon ends

Posted October 24, 2011 by Kimberly in Events, News / 2 Comments

Dear friends, fellow book lovers and cute fluffy pets,

As the Wonderfully Wicked Read-A-Thon winds down, I have to admit I’m sad to see it go. I loved the mini challenges, both participating and watching others too. And I loved the idea.

I don’t think I read as much as I could have, if say, I was given the entire weekend to read, not go to work, not leave the house for any reason and sustain myself on ice cream and cookies alone. But alas, those weekends are few and far between.

I had a wonderful time and thanks for reading along.

My first Read-A-Thon is over in just a few minutes (as I am on PST), but I’m happy to say it was such a positive experience for me, I’ll be sure to sign up for other ones in the future.

To recap:

Participated in 5 challenges. (see my previous post on this Read-A-Thon to see my answers to the challenges)

Title Sentences | Britta @ LovelyLit Blog

Guess the Character | Heather @ Book Savvy Babe

Lets Talk Horror | Jen @ A Book and a Latte

Read in Pictures | Kate & Kristen @ The Book Monsters

Zombie Apocalypse | April @ My Shelf Confessions

AND

Finished Reading

“Anna Dressed In Blood”/Kendra Blake (183 pgs read)
and
“The Truth About Forever”/Sarah Dessen (374 pgs read)

Total: 557 pgs read this weekend!

No too shabby and a good starting point for the next Read-A-Thon!
Thanks all you lovely people for hosting and see you next time!

Updated!! The Wonderfully Wicked Read-A-Thon! October 21-23rd

Posted October 20, 2011 by Kimberly in Events, News / 6 Comments

It’s my first Read-A-Thon!
That’s right!
I’m going to be reading as much as I can during these three days!
Thanks to hosts: Bex @ Kindle Fever and April @ My Shelf Confessions!

And check back here for updates!

Please feel free to leave comments or advice! :) I’m not sure how I’ll do, but it seems like an amazing challenge!

Challenge 1:

Make one sentence out of only book titles!
We can’t add or delete words but can use as many book titles as we want! Well, here’s my silly little sentence.

Wicked, Lovely Eve Matched Unearthly Jacob Silence Forever
Here are the books I used:

Love this game!!!

Challenge 2:
Guess The Character Challenge!

Challenge 3:
Thanks to BookandLatte for this challenge!

What is your favorite horror or thriller movie based off of a book?
My answer: The one that kept me up late into the night, reading, putting the book down and picking it back up was American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis.
I saw the movie and knew this would stay with me forever. I still get goosebumps. Creepy and horrible.

10/22 – Reading Update:
Finished reading “Anna Dressed In Blood”/Kendare Blake
Started “The Truth About Forever”/Sarah Dessen

Challenge 4:
Thanks to The Book Monsters for this challenge!”
Anna Dressed In Blood” by Kendare Blake

The story in pictures (without the ending. Spoilers not wanted!)

Ghost Girl
A Haunted House
A ghostbuster and his friends

A Magic Knife

Some VooDoo
And a Beautiful Impossible Love

I loved Anna Dressed In Blood.
Pretty edgy/gorey for a YA book. It was awesome. Hope you get a chance to read it too!
Thanks so much!

Challenge 5:
Thanks to My Shelf Confessions for this challenge!

In the event of a Zombie Apocalypse you are forced to take shelter with family and/or friends for a period of no less than 5 years. You have time to pack some supplies and some extra things to keep yourself entertained. However, since there will be many people sharing the same space, space will be limited and you are told you are only allowed to bring up to 5 books.
What books would you pack to sustain you? If you want to go a step further you can give a reason why you would choose the books you chose.

I’m going to be very honest here. I am very afraid of Zombies. I do have Zombie survival guides from a friend who knows and appreciates my deep fear of Zombies and is kind enough to help me plan ahead.

That said, of course NONE of my books I would bring are Zombie related.
I will probably be eaten.
But I will be well entertained until then.

My five are:
The Mermaids Singing by Lisa Carey
Dark Lover by J R Ward
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood
Still Life With Woodpecker by Tom Robbins

Thanks for the fun!

HELLO! (Hello… hello…) out there!

Posted August 2, 2011 by Kimberly in News / 4 Comments

Hi There!

I’m just another crazy reader with a love for books and a wireless connection. (oh no you say!)
I’ll be reviewing a bunch of books on this new book blog! I became addicted to doing this thanks to dear frootjoos over at Read Now Sleep Later where I guest blogged for a bit.
You can find the reviews I do through the archive or through tags. I’ve started one tag in particular called “New To Me” where the book might be a little older, but it’s still the first time I’ve read it!

Please feel free to leave lots of comments!

And stop by often! There will be contests, polls, giveaways and more!

Thanks so much,
Kimberly
