Oh February. How quickly you went by.

Books and Books and More (or less) Books

I only bought two books last month (What what what?). I guess I’m getting kinda good at this book diet thing. I bought A Curse So Dark and Lonely because I heard it was amazing and I am a sucker for a good Beauty & the Beast retelling. I also bought Echo North because the synopsis sounded right up my alley!

I also got my copy of King of Scars which I pre-ordered with a gift card. (!!!!)

On the reading front, I finally started the Winternight trilogy by Katherine Arden. Yes. it is everything I dreamed it could be. I’ll be continuing with the trilogy straight through. There are lots of characters and I don’t want to forget anything!

I did accomplish reading my 5 physical books and I even squeezed in a review book in there too so win for me. Now the only challenge is not buying any more books…

Knit Knit Purl Purl

I made some progress with my Find Your Fade shawl. Not a lot but a little bit. I haven’t had a lot of time to knit, but I think that will change for March. My daughter is sleeping well again so that’s a plus. (We had to hire a sleep consultant. Since Thanksgiving, she was NOT sleeping through the night and that just about killed us.)

I was also gifted these two lovely skeins of yarn from the indie dyer HelloMello. He retry store can be found here.

Hygge

I had my husband repaint a wall in our living room so we could hang these beautiful prints I bought from The Night Sky. I love them so much. There are three of them, each with our birthdays. I’m so pleased with how it turned out. They’re both lovely to look at and deeply personal. I had been eyeing them for a year now.

I feel very adult. I look at them and I feel a spark of joy. 😉 Kondo would be proud.

Health

I have continued my self taught lessons in baking and cooking. Currently, I’m baking a homemade blueberry pie. I’ve never done this one before so I’m hoping it will be good. Sadly, the dough is a little too wet this time around (added too much water) but I’m hoping it will bake itself out. I couldn’t put the lattice on the top because the rest of the dough was way too sticky, so it’s an open Blueberry pie. (Is here such a thing?) I dunno. Going with it for now. Fingers crossed it’s edible!

I also made a beef enchilada casserole the other night. I didn’t get a chance to eat it, but my husband really liked it. Sadly, our daughter did not.

And I tried to make this Blueberry and Orange cake, but it was kinda dense and not very enjoyable to eat. I might try again but in a bundt pan next time or add some baking soda.

I am trying to eat better in general.

Personal

On a personal note, we went to the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles and it was wonderful.

And it was my husband’s birthday and we celebrated with donuts and Llama birthday decorations. Because you know, why not?
