April 2019 Recap!

What. A. Month! Do you like the bunny decoration my daughter created? It’s equal parts abstract art and disturbing. 🙂

Alright, peeps. Here’s the skinny:

It was my birthday month! (yay!) and my daughter’s birthday month (Double Yay!) Which means it was crazy going to ludicrous.

Books Books and Books

I got a lovely copy of The Near Witch by V.E. Schwab from my friend T over at NiteLite Book Reviews. I’m super excited to read this because she is one of my favorite authors.

I also went to Los Angeles Times Festival of Books! Ironmuffin took care of the baby and I went for half a day. It was amazing. Pics below of me and T and some lovely artwork on one of the booth’s tables from illustrators and authors.

I bought three books for myself including: The Girl He Used To Know, My Lady’s Choosing, and two for my daughter. It was so much fun.

I also did really well with focusing on reading physical books. My physical to read pile has gone down and by my calculations, by December, I will only have two towers remaining. Not too shabby.

Knitting

I broke down and finally bought the amazing book Texture by Hannah Fettig. It’s the most beautiful book and has lovely patterns. I’m really looking forward to starting them! And I have a feeling that I may eventually make every one of them. It’s one of THOSE books.

I also (GASP!) lost my knitting project for over a week. My good husband Ironmuffin went back to my daughter’s swim school early one morning and found it in the lost and found for me! Whew. I was seriously so upset by this, it clouded most of that week for me. I’m so thankful it was found and undamaged.

Hygge

It was The Blueberry’s birthday! I did pretty well with keeping only toys I thought she would like and giving away duplicates or items I didn’t want. (We’re not big fans of toys with lots of noise or flashing lights.)

Everyone had a lot of fun, and honestly, I’m a little sad it’s over. Looking forward to next year!

My birthday was nowhere near as extravagant. We went up to Lake Arrowhead for my birthday weekend and enjoyed some time chilling out. I wish we could have stayed for longer.

Easter we went to a friend’s house to celebrate, dye eggs and have an easter egg hunt. It was the perfect Sunday. I am proud to say that Blueberry found the most eggs and is apparently an egg hunting ninja.

Health

Well, let’s say there was an awful amount of cake. No joke. And it was my birthday month and my daughter’s (as in, I gave birth to her and deserve a slice of cake dammit) so yeah. Next month I’ll be better. I promise. Summer is coming.

I’m feeling a little fat and slow and not all that great, truthfully. I haven’t been able o get to classes this week or last due to work or scheduling so I’m hoping I can refocus on that this coming week. And you know, the cake will have to run out by then!

Overall, April was a blur but not in a bad way. I’m really looking forward to May to settle back down and reprioritize my goals. I’ve been thinking a lot about social media and how much time I spend on it, taking in what other people are doing, and then thinking about all that time I’ve wasted.

I want to focus again on crafting like learning how to sew or quilt. I want to continue to read and get through my clutter. I want to save money, save for a vacation, save for an emergency. I want to lose weight, eat healthy and not be so worried about dying and leaving my young daughter.

I want to do and see and accomplish lots of things and there is no better time than right now.

Oh, and you know, Game of Thrones is ending. Winter is here.
