Review:

A Conjuring of Light was the ending that was always supposed to be. The tihrd book in the trilogy by V.E. Schwab, this book doesn’t disappoint and wraps up in all the best ways.

Kell and company are up against the greatest and most dangerous foe they’ve ever encountered, and even enemies must create alliances to keep this evil from taking over Red London for good. I’m not going to give too much away. While A Darker Shade of Magic cemented you in this world, and A Gathering of Shadows was really Lilah’s story, A Conjuring of Light is the way it was always supposed to end – with a bang.

I loved it. It was such a wonderful relief because I wasn’t super into the second book and while I like Delilah Bard fine, she isn’t my favorite character. But this third book – wow. It brought it all back home.

The writing and creativity is exceptional. I love how the dark magic really claims people differently, how they use it for good or bad and how simple and small choices through your life make such an impact. This third book we see a lot of past from one now ally previous foe (name not used for spoiler safety) and more of the world at large as the gang venture past the London boarders to try to find the weapon that could help save London.

The only negative comment I have is the ending feels a lot like Lord of the Rings. There are lots and lots of endings, like so many endings. It wasn’t disjointed, but it didn’t flow as well as I wanted it too because we kept going back and forth between the survivors.

Overall though, it’s a wonderful trilogy and honestly, I’m still thinking about it. Even days after it ended. Even after books I’ve read in between. That’s how much Red, Grey, White and Black London pull you in. And don’t want to let you go.
