Books Books Books

Oh, how deep the river of denial is.

I ended up buying three books this month which is better/worse than some previous months. I did purge two very large boxes of books this month as well. (Giveaway time!) And I have been reading books I currently own and not library books so I have actually cleared an entire pile of books from library. Buying three isn’t ideal, but I did giveaway like 25 so not feeling especially awful about it. Baby steps. I can’t be expected to quit cold turkey… can I?

I bought Girl in the TowerSweet Black Waves, and The Last Namsara. I did buy two of them because I couldn’t get them at my local library and the third, well, I really wanted it. So there.

I also bought three digital books (but who is counting?!) because I read the first book in the Kresley Cole series A Hunger Like No Other and had to buy more. I mean, I am reading them at an alarming rate, trying to pace myself accordingly so I don’t burn out. (Dark Needs At Night’s Edge, No Rest For The Wicked and Wicked Deeds On A Summer’s Night)

Knitting

Yes there was knitting this month! I was having problems last month and the month before due to some pain in my left arm/hand but that seems to be going away now. I have to stretch and relax more these days but at least I can knit. I haven’t finished anything but I have started a project for my precious Blueberry for a future birthday and I’m interested in starting a bigger project in a little bit.

Health

Oh, well, I’m doing better on some fronts. I have got to stop eating so much ice cream though. 😉 I mean, kinda.

Hygge

I feel very very happy and proud of myself for purging those books. I know it might not seem like a lot but my book collection has gone down drastically. It’s still big but I don’t feel quite so overwhelmed every time I look at it. I’ve been using the library a little bit, but mostly I’m reading what I have! June was especially good month for this. Out of 14 of the books I read in June, 11 of the books were ones I had!

I’ve also signed myself and my daughter up for the Summer Reading program at our local library. I’m excited to challenge myself! And I was able to get a bunch of books out for her so we have new stuff to read! (And not books to keep!)

I’ve been doing well with cleaning up after the house too and keeping up with laundry. Little things. We also redid my husband’s closet for father’s day. He got new hangers, laundry basket, shoe containers and we purged old clothing. It looks and feels much better! I think he’s very satisfied and I’m happy that I don’t have to stare at a shoe parade every morning. I also gave away a bunch of my old clothing and shoes too so my closet is looking a little bit better. I organized everything into type and then by color so that’s oddly satisfying.

What do you do with your books that you no longer want to keep? Goodwill? Friends? Library?
