1. Serial

If you haven’t jumped on the Serial bandwagon yet, let me tell you that you are really missing out. Season 1 is especially gripping about a cold case of a high school love found murdered. There’s a reason this podcast was such a phenomenon when it was airing and I’m telling you it is totally worth it. But don’t look for any real closure. The case is still open….

Stuff You Missed In History Class

How Stuff Works does it again with this incredibly well researched and fun podcast on everything you never knew you should. I love the older episodes but the newer ones are longer and more researched. There’s a lot of fun events in history that I love listening to, and then finding myself researching more when I get home. It really helps with my long commute and I have always loved history. But this podcast started me on the rabbit hole of non-fiction history audiobooks. And now I can’t go back!

Two Ewes Fiber Adventures

I have to throw in a knitting podcast and this is one of my current favorites. The two hosts are warm and friendly and I love hearing them chat about their lives and knitting.

Death In Ice Valley

The BBC has got me obsessed with this cold case of a woman found in 1970. Was she a spy? Or ill? This last episode left us hanging for more. The Facebook group is crazy with speculation. And there seems to be real movement with finding out who she was, and how she died. Listen at your own risk.

Thanks to one of our podcast listeners for recommending this one to us! It is addictive.

Mighty Mommy’s Quick and Dirty Tips

I’m not gonna lie – I really like this podcast because I’m a new mom. She touches on some helpful tips every episode and it helps me recenter myself before I see my toddler. Also I like that the podcasts are short so I can listen to a topic quickly and not get bored.

Generation Why

True Crime. These two hosts research cases I’ve never heard of and sometimes, my commute home breezes by because of the topics. I really appreciate how sensitive they are to the victims and their families. They give insightful opinions. I’ve listened to them for years now and I am always really happy when I see a new episode in the library!

Criminal

Coming off of Serial was hard, so I was happy to start listening to Criminal. Every episode is a different story and they range from the old (the sister of the two Alcatraz escapees) to the most recent. I like how different the stories are, and they aren’t very long so it’s perfect for a short car ride. Honestly though I find myself researching the cases when I get home.

Stash & Burn

One of the first podcasts I’ve listened to on knitting and I still do. They don’t  post regularly anymore but when they do it’s a treat. I don’t suggest non-knitters to listen to them because it is mostly knitting (and some sewing, spinning, etc.) but the hosts are friendly and fun.

S-Town

A raw and real investigative journal about a man and his love and hate relationship with his town and the residents. The story twists and turns and once you start, you won’t want to start. In fact, you may want to visit S-Town yourself. Many people have since this podcast.

Twisted Stitches Podcast

Shameless self promotion.

My friend Thuy and I have a knitting podcast and here it is. We talk about knitting mostly, and crafting. But at the end we go over Reading and Watching too! So if you’re bored and like my blog, come check out our podcast!
