And they’re back!

The first and second books were my favorite growing up. Truthfully, all of Louis Sachar’s books were my favorite so I was tickled, TICKLED I SAY, to return to my favorite of all favorite schools – Wayside School.

And it does not disappoint.

I was swept back into Wayside. You don’t have to read them in order. The charm of the story and the characters are all there to experience for new and old readers alike. I love the writing which is clever and entertaining for adults and children. The chapters are short and easy to digest, with certain stories flowing through the entire book. I love the quirkiness and humor but overall, this book (like all of Sacher’s books) have heart.

The Cloud of Doom has covered the sky over Wayside School. If you’ve read any of the other books in the series, you know this school isn’t like any other. Now imagine a cloud of doom over it. Only hilarity will ensue!

The testing of friendships, of themselves, of each other is what makes Wayside so easily relatable. I was reading something else at the same time, and I kept gravitating towards Wayside, eager to read just one more chapter and feel that fun and lightheartedness I did when I was a kid. It’s all there.

I can’t wait for my daughter to be old enough to read these books. This is a strong and perfect addition to one of my all time favorite series.
