March 2018 Recap!

March. I feel like this month just started and yet, it’s over already!

March was challenging for me, but in really good, adulting ways.

Books– I am really proud to say that I only bought three books. One was a pre-order from a favorite author in a favorite series (The Case for Jamie if you want to know) so I already knew I was going to be buying it when it came out. I’m not going to say I didn’t miss buying books or the bookstore experience, but I also wasn’t super obsessed about it. I did manage my book obsession by going to the local library and taking out like 20 books. (No really. I think I alone increased circulation by like 1000%! ha!) But this worked really well for me. Not only did I get to read or browse books I’m curious about, but it helped me save money. I’m really proud of myself on this front. I’m very very hopeful I can continue this into April. The other two I got were To Kill A Kingdom and The Queen’s Rising. Both I’m going to be reading in April, I can’t wait. So not great, but I am giving away another box this month so I don’t feel too guilty.

And considering this is still my To Read pile-

I’m good with that.

Knitting – Another proud moment for me. I’m almost done with my baby’s second birthday present – the Hugo Couch Potato Stuffed Animal. I wasn’t sure if I would get it done in time but I think I will! I bought some felt and stuffing yesterday for the mouth and eyes and will be hopefully done with that in the next week. Her birthday is at the end of the month so I have plenty of time. (Or so I think!)

Health – Sigh. I need to improve in this area big time. First, I have got to stop eating bad food. There’s been a lot of it and honestly I’ve been indulging because I’ve been super stressed out. (more on that below) So April, my birthday month, I’m focusing on getting back to WW, losing more weight, going to more classes, and getting back in it! At least now I know I’m an emotional eater! (I knew that already! :O)

Cosy – Ahh, love me some Hygge. I’ve finished one box of books giveaway (yay me) and have another one coming soon. It’s always a really bittersweet thing to do a giveaway. I find myself taking books out and putting them back in, changing my mind again and again. But once they’re boxed up, I’m happy to send them off. This has cleared up some space in my room too which is really good for my anxiety. I love having less piles and more space. I think I’ll be in a really good place by the end of the year.

Adulting – Not going to lie, Adulting is HARD. So I know I’ve mentioned it before, but I have a two year old baby. (She’ll be two in April anyway) And it’s come to my attention that this little bundle of awesome is fully my responsibility and I have to TAKE CARE OF HER. That includes talking about not fun things. So this month, hence the bad eating, I’ve been talking a lot with my husband about Life Insurance and wills and trusts etc. It’s all very depressing and scary, no one wants to talk about it. But I’m determined to figure everything out before the end of the year and make sure she’s set up so just in case the worst thing happens, she will be taken care of. I’ve also spoken to a lot of my friends about this stuff and they are going through similar conversations. Everything changes when you have a kid. And a lot of this is not fun.

So that was my March. I’m hoping April will be a little shinier, a little brighter and a little more fun. It’s my birthday month and I get my birthday off from work so I’m really looking forward to that. I think there might be Harry Potter World in my future (I haven’t been yet!).

Hope you had a wonderful month!
