June was like the BEST MONTH EVER!

I went back to NJ with my daughter for a week to hang out with my parents. While I was there, I went to two days of BookCon! That’s right, folks. I left my baby with Grandma and Grandpa and went to be a book nerd for two days in NYC (holla!)

I had such a wonderful time. It was a really different experience for me because usually I go with friends, but this time I had no one but me, myself and I. Oh, and a very large backpack.

I met some new people and everyone was very nice and friendly. It was a huge and I’m not going to lie, a bit disorganized. I’ve been to book conventions before but for some reason, this one was a little messy. Some of the booths ran out of books or signing tickets way before they should have with people waiting in lines for up to two hours. Other booths were clearly marked for what lines were what (shout out to Harper Collins who killed it) but lots of other ones had no signs at all and even the worker weren’t sure where to line up or what the line was even for!

Even with all the mayhem though, it was lots of fun and I am thinking about going back next year.

Onto the books!

I got to meet Julia London (GASP!) and that was a lot of fun because she is favorite romance author of mine. And I snagged the ARC of her upcoming romance book The Princess Plan. I also go tot meet Susan Dennard, who is lovely and sweet. I got a picture and she signed my copy of Truthwitch, which I’ve heard good things about.

I just finished The Widow of Pale Harbor (review to come in September closer to release date) and I’m eying Keep This To Yourself and A Girl Named Anna next for my summer reading books.

While in NYC, I also convinced my parents to stop at a local B&N (because really, I can’t have enough books!) I grabbed signed copies of The Tiger At Midnight and The Belles. So I had a pretty heavy suitcase to get on the plane… just kidding. My kind parents mailed me my books. Because whatever United, I’m not paying another luggage fee. (insert appropriate finger here.)

The bottom three books in the pic below are all signed but that’s another story.

And lastly, I had a real celebrity sighting.

Knitting Knitting Buy…oh

I finally finished my Tale As Old As Time cowl. It is glorious.

I also stopped by my sister’s LYS Yarnia in Montclair, NJ. It is adorable and I bought like a lot of stuff.

Health and what it means to be 80% Ice Cream

I think I ate ice cream every day while I was in NJ and I’m not gonna lie, that’s really hard to keep up. My clothes were tight when I came back so I promised myself to be better at my ice cream consumption. I’ve been doing poorly this month so I think July will be back on the wagon time. Seriously. so much ice cream. And I’m lactose intolerant. I just can’t seem to care.

On a super fun note, my anxiety reared up again the days after I flew. I know I’m not good with traveling, and traveling solo with a toddler is not my idea of a fun time (though she was the perfect baby truthfully). It’s more about my own added stress than anything else.

So, yeah. Bummer.

Hygge

Um, did you not read any of the above? Just kidding.

I’m feeling really good and guilt free with my book purchases and my time at BookCon. Cosy? You bet. Bring it on!

(I know this is not what this is about so don’t send me angry letters)

And what else? That’s all for me for now. June was amazing and I miss my family and I want to take a staycation and read all day and eat MORE ice cream..oh wait. July is here and I said I would be good…

Until next month!
