Welcome friends to another edition of Shelf Candy Saturday!
Hosted by the wonderful Five Alarm Book Reviews!

I love book covers, and I’m not ashamed to admit many a book I have bought has been based on cover alone. Yes, I’m one of those. I always hope for a equally beautiful story inside!

Now, onto the Shelf Candy!

My Shelf Candy for this Saturday is:

The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland In A Ship of Her Own Making
By Catherynne M. Valente

Synopsis can be found here.

Isn’t it beautiful? The deep red book, imitating old leather. The golden embelishes at the corners. The whimsical and innocent picture of the girl, facing a very fantastical dragon, who has a lock around his belly. I love her green sweater and orange skirt, the dragon’s red devil tail and long thin claws.
And what I believe really draws you to the cover, is the lettering. Bolder in parts, highlighting the words Girl and Fairyland, the clear yet slightly embellished font. You can see the magic.

Don’t you want to read this too??
