Review:
What’s a girl to do?
Abigail inherits a small cottage and piece of land from her mother figure, famous knitter Eliza Carpenter. Leaving her abusive crazy ex boyfriend behind, she moves into the small beach town where she begins the transformation of small rundown cottage into awesome knitting shop. But her neighbor and Eliza’s nephew, Cade, isn’t happy she’s there and will do anything he can to make life difficult for her. That is, until the real threat comes to town and then Abigail will need all the help she can get.
This is Herron’s debut novel and it is as sweet and fun as you think it’s going to be. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved the story. Cade and Abigail share some real chemistry. There are a few scenes that are hot and heavy (As there should be! This is a romance novel!) Herron does a great job making both of these characters very likeable, and being able to see each of their sides. Cade is the difficult, everyday cowboy hero. and Abigail is her own strong woman. She’s a great female character and they are a lot of fun together. Especially in the beginning when they don’t really care for each other.
I quite enjoyed the knitting scenes! Being a knitter myself, I was skeptical about any knit lit out there. Sometimes I feel like the knitting is inserted later on or forced upon the characters like hobbies to push the chick lit into this new genre. But not here. The scenes where Abigail is knitting or teaching knitting are so natural, and it made me like Abigail even more. The hobby isn’t overpowering, merely a character trait that unfolds gently. And the yarn mentioned, the patterns talked about, the overall tone of the book is light and warm, just like my favorite group of knitters.

Sure, I saw what was going to happen. But the journey is so much fun, it didn’t matter! It’s a fun sizzling read to enjoy perhaps curled under a blanket with a cup of hot tea. You don’t have to be a knitter to like this book! Fun fun fun and oh, the knitting pattern in the back is an awesome bonus!

This is a fantastic book to curl up to as the weather gets colder. A perfect counter to the holiday craziness. Pick it up!
