Bound as one to love, honor, or burn.

Two years ago, Louise le Blanc fled her coven and took shelter in the city of Cesarine, forsaking all magic and living off whatever she could steal. There, witches like Lou are hunted. They are feared. And they are burned.

Sworn to the Church as a Chasseur, Reid Diggory has lived his life by one principle: thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. His path was never meant to cross with Lou's, but a wicked stunt forces them into an impossible union—holy matrimony.

The war between witches and Church is an ancient one, and Lou's most dangerous enemies bring a fate worse than fire. Unable to ignore her growing feelings, yet powerless to change what she is, a choice must be made.

And love makes fools of us all.

Guys, why have you been waiting to read this? It’s so much fun.

Reid Diggory is so easy to picture. He’s uptight and hostile and reminds me of a certain prideful British hero. I really enjoyed his character arc. He started so far out on the other side, I wasn’t sure how he was going to react to Lou. Their romance didn’t disappoint.

Lou is reckless and street smart. Reid’s attraction to Lou is easy to understand because she is so different from him. She’s so full of life and energy and likes to needle him whenever she can. I love this about their relationship – how they start as enemies and slowly grow into friends and then something more. I like how they instigate each other, she teases him and he’s not sure what to do with it. I like their awkward exchanges, he is mostly exasperated with her.

The story moves so fast, it had me glued to the page from the beginning. I couldn’t put it down. There’s the church and Reid himself, there’s Lou’s mother who is searching for her, and obviously, Lou’s biggest concern – Reid finding out she is actually a witch. I loved the tension between them and the twists the book kept me guessing how all the pieces fit. It was so satisfying, I want to read it again right away.

I can’t recommend this book enough. I’m telling all of my friends about it. The only thing I’m disappointed in? Why isn’t the second book out NOW!?! 🙂
