Review:
Red leads you into the forest step by step, telling you to expect a wolf and magic and cages and beasts. But not the wolf you expect. And not the beasts you know.
I’ve been a fan of Alyxandra Harvey for a while now. Her books are usually very entertaining, with a touch of magic and romance and smirk. Red is no exception.
Of course there’s a girl, tucked away in a castle where mysterious things are happening. And there’s a boy with a secret. And his friends are not what they seem. I loved Kira’s strength, her power. Ethan and Kira do not like each other at first and who is to blame them. Why trust the good looking stranger that seems like their hiding a secret? Alternating between Ethan and Kira’s perspectives, the plot comes up fast and at first, predictable. But with a few good twists from Harvey, the big bad wolf should be afraid of the little girl.
Or, maybe afraid of something bigger than both of them.
I’m really hoping this is the beginning of a new series because there’s still places the story can go. But even as a stand alone, it’s a fun and satisfying read.
