I am participating in the Once Upon a Read-a-Thon hosted by Pure Imagination, Candace’s Book Blog, and Reading Angels!

This Read A Thon runs from July 8th to July 10th.

I’m super excited about this Read A Thon. I haven’t participated in one for a while, but I fully intend to read as much as I can! It’s going to be challenging because I work full time, but I think I’ll be clearing my lunch schedule for some much needed reading time!

Here are the books I’m looking to read:

The Turning by Francine Prose
Through to You by Emily Hainsworth
Project Paper Dolls by Stacey Kade
Fathomless by Jackson Pearce
Finish: Jane Eyre audiobook (in progress)
Finish: The Replacement (which has been half read since beginning of year)

Wish me luck!

Mini Challenge 1Cover to Cover Blog

1. Which book am I most excited to read in the coming year?
I am super excited to read Champion by Marie Lu when it comes out later this year. I read Prodigy and Legend so fast!

2. Which book would you re-read if you had the time?
I love reading Jurassic Park. I try to make time for the Harry Potter series as well. But if I had some extra time, I would like to read The Historian again.

3. If you could meet any fictional character, who would it be and why?
That’s a really hard question.
I think I’d like to meet the Weasley brothers from Harry Potter. I think they would be fun to hang out with and get to know.

Mini Challenge 2Better Read Than Dead

You’re in a bookstore and you’ve just purchased 5 books you’ve been dying to read, when the apocalypse hits. (Zombie, Demons, Vampires, Dean Winchester vs. Sam Winchester (yes, I’m watching Supernatural reruns) I don’t care what apocalypse). You’ve got one chance at survival, what 2 books do you take and what 3 other items do you take?

This is very tough. Do I grab something for survival? Or entertainment?
Depending on the type of apocalypse, do I go for sunscreen or water or garlic?
These are all serious questions.

Ok.
I think I would grab- Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell and The Historian. I love those books and they are massive, so while I’m waiting for the end of the world, I might as well read some of my favorites. (If I can make my husband carry another two books with him, I might make him take Pride & Prejudice and The Siren by Tiffany Reisz (erotica). I mean, we are going to have some free time on our hands….)

I would also pick up a crow bar (because I fear zombies and according to the Zombie Survival Guide, a crow bar is your best friend), bunny food (for my two bunnies) because I am a practical bunny mama, and probably chocolate. Because my husband is grouchy without it.

Great mini challenge!!

Mini Challenge 3IB Book Blogging

Make your dream guy using characteristics, personalities, looks, and anything else you can think of from your favorite book boyfriends.

Hmm, tough one. Tough because I am already married.
How about the best characteristics I find in books that apply to my hubby?

Mr. Darcy – accent and strong character.
Sam from Wolves of Mercy Falls series – songwriting, guitar playing, sensitivity
Dimitri from Vampire Academy – strength, speed, stealth, and fierceness

Matthew from A Discovery of Witches – knowledge, protectiveness

🙂

July 9th- update:
Finished Through to You and The Turning
Going to start reading Fathomless
Hoping to finish Jane Eyre tomorrow evening

Note to self: Reading during lunch is the way to go!!

Mini Challenge 4 Dizneee’s World of Books

1. Favorite Genre: Young Adult Paranormal
2. Favorite Book within that genre: The Vampire Academy series, the Drake Chronicles… the list goes on!
3. Favorite Character in that genre: So hard to choose. I do love Lucius from Jessica’s Guide.

This was actually a very hard one for me to answer. Because all of these guys are so hard to choose from! 🙂

Wrap up! July 11th-
Well, I did pretty well! I read three YA books and finished my audio book of Jane Eyre, which is what I was really hoping for with the full time gig going.
I’m pretty happy with my progress!
Most of all, I think I’ll try to take a couple of days every week to read at lunch. It was relaxing and I made some serious reading progress too!

Great Read a thon!
