It’s the end of the year and you know what that means? Promising myself a lot of stuff that I will not follow through on. Or is it?

Instead, I wanted to focus on  what I did right in 2018. And what I still hope to accomplish in 2019.

The Good –

I got my sh*t together – I am an adult dammit. So I needed to start acting like one. Including adult-y things that no one ever wants to talk about or pay for. Such as wills, life insurance, etc. As a parent, I’m more focused on what is the best thing for my daughter. And this includes biting the bullet and getting through some uncomfortable legal papers.

Need to work on still: Retirement savings. Will tackle that first month of 2019. (hopefully)

The Good –

Hygge focused. I was really successful in purging many unwanted and unused items in my home, including my own things and baby things. A lot went to Goodwill and I’m happy to say that no one in the house misses these things. That said, I do still have a garage of “maybes” that I’ve kept onto. Mostly baby stuff. Just in case…

Need to work on still: Cleaning out the garage. My husband is super annoyed because the garage is a disaster and the only way to fix it is to clean it ourselves. Will focus on this as soon as the weather turns warmer. (Spring 2019)

The Good –

Books Books Books (bye bye books.) I still love me some hardcover series. I still love box sets and special editions. I still love signed books. But I greatly curbed my buying this year and in the process, lessened my To Read Pile. I gave many away that I didn’t read or would never get to read. I used my library a ton this year. I still feel anxiety when I look at my current To Read pile, but I’m going to tackle this slowly and methodically. Five hardcovers a month and that pile will go down. As long as I don’t keep buying more books. (see below.)

The pic above are books I’m planning on reading early in 2019. Looking forward to them!

Need to work on still: Frenzy book buying, auto buys. I was really good in the months of October, November and December. But that doesn’t mean I will continue to be. I tend to buy in waves. No books and then – ten. So I’m focusing this new year on a one book in, one book out rule. If I really need that new Holly Black book (and believe me I do!) I will give away a book in my pile.  Secondary goal: Digital To Read pile. I am planning on focusing on that in the summer.

The Good –

Health. I started seeing a new therapist who has changed my life. My anxiety and heart palpitations have lessened. I’ve stayed away mostly from alcohol, caffeine. I still have a sugar craving, but I’m hoping to kick that in 2019. Overall, mentally, I feel stronger.

Need to work on still: My weight. I need to lose a lot of weight (I say this every year, I know.) I’m doing it with a friend this time so I think I have a better chance at success. Wish me luck. I’m going to be 30 pounds lighter by this time next year. And then I’m going to Anthropologie and buying the entire store out. 🙂

The Good –

Hobbies! I did make time for myself during the year for writing. This meant I had less reading/knitting time but I felt very accomplished and satisfied. I did also read a good deal and knit a bit more than usual. I have some unfinished projects to focus on, but not as many as last year and for once, I know exactly what’s in my yarn stash.

Need to work on still: Balancing my hobbies and making more time for me. I need to draw more attention to writing and be okay with less reading or knitting time. I’d also like to focus on finishing more WIP (knitting) and of course, reading my physical books. It’s a lot to juggle but my main goal next year is to finish writing my book.

That’s all for now! 🙂
