Review:

Fia and Annie wish to stop being controlled by the Keane Foundation. But each has her own way of trying to make that happen. Annie, a Seer, will use every power she has to save her sister Fia. Fia will do anything to protect Annie and destroy the Keane Foundation. But does her love for James Keane cloud her judgement?

You MUST read Mind Games, book one, in order to read this book. Trust me.

Great duology. I read Mind Games and had to dive right into Perfect Lies. I liked the differences between Fia and Annie, the flashbacks to their POVs leading up to the event. And the fast paced intensity of the book. This book, and the first one in the duology, are short coming in below 300 pages each. But don’t let that fool you. The plot is so fast, the stakes so high, I was immediatley pulled into the story. I love Annie’s character arc, how she builds her self confidence and becomes stronger and brave while Fia’s character decomposes from confident to unsure and uncertainty.

There are a couple of things that frustrated me a bit, such as James control on Fia. I liked this darkness to their relationship, but I feel like it could have been explored even more. (Side note: James is a really awesome character because he lives in the world of gray and no one, not even Fia, knows his true motives or his real intentions, making him incredibly dangerous to all of the characters in the book. I like characters that are so muddy you don’t know which side they’re on!)  I would have really liked even more character development with Fia especially as she descends into madness and paranoia.

Overall, the plot is fast fast fast paced and White does an amazing job of throwing so much action into such a small amount of time, craving the reader to keep turning the page. I read this book in a day. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that it’s a duology. I feel like a lot of trilogies don’t have to be three books because a lot doesn’t happen or things are thrown in that don’t need to be there. This story is tight. I love how I could get an entire story from two books that kept me mesmerized and wanting more.

If you’re looking for a quick, exciting read, then pick up the duology Mind Games and Perfect Lies. And hold on.
