TGIF at GReads! (16)

Thank you to GReads for hosting!
And TGIF everyone!

This week’s question: Book Moments: What has been your favorite moment (scene) in a book that you’ve read so far in 2012? Please be kind & not include spoilers.

This is a very hard question for me because I’ve read many AMAZING books this year so far.
But the one scene that has stuck with me for a couple of weeks now is from this book:

A few scenes have stayed with me, but one in particular is towards the end of the book.
Scarlet and Rob are having an arguement and it is simply heartbreaking. There’s so much emotion behind these two characters, it’s a beautiful testiment to the saying you hurt who you love. I don’t want to give away any details, but it broke. my. heart.
If you haven’t picked up Scarlet, Go Now!

TGIF at GReads! (15)

Thank you to GReads for hosting.
TGIF everyone!
I’m so happy it’s Friday!

This week’s question is: Required Reading: Which book from your school days do you remember reading & enjoying? Is there a book published now that you’d like to see in today’s curriculum for kids?

We read parts of this book for my history class. One of my favorite teachers taught me and since I left school, I’ve always wanted to finish this book. Maybe this year will be the year!

Two of my favorite plays. Ever.

Thank you High School English class.
I’d love to see this book as required reading
This was such a beautiful and heartbreaking work. I loved every minute of it. For an older audience, but a must read. Especially because we need to instill acceptance, understanding and compassion in today’s youth.

Funny enough, there are a few books that really impacted me in school.

This week’s question is: Love Stories: What are some of your favorite fictional love stories?

Where to begin?!

First,  A very special Happy Birthday to my hubby who turns the big 3-0!
Love you and Thank You for for supporting my book buying habit. Even when all the rooms have books hidden in them. Even my car.

Here are just some of my absolute favorites:

(Last is the BDB series. Thank you J.R. Ward!)

Romance, YA, Literature, too many to name.

What are your favorites right now?

This week’s questions is: Book Appeal: When you’re browsing goodreads, the library, or another blogger’s reviews, what grabs your attention to make you want to read it?
Hmmm…

First off- the covers! I buy books on covers alone. Seeing as how there are some really stunning covers out there, it’s easy to get carried away!

I read other book bloggers’ reviews! I have a few that I follow regularly and we have similar tastes so if they like, even if I’m not sure, I’ll give it a try!

I also usually scan the new releases area of my local library. I find really wonderful books there. Some I’ve never heard of and others I’ve been dying to check out!
If I’ve never heard of the book, but it is by an author I’m familiar with, I will pick it up.

And last but not least, the front cover quote! If an author I adore is quoted on the front cover, promoting a book, I will buy it. That’s happened to me a couple of times, especially in the romance section. There are so many romance authors out there, it’s hard to tell who I would like. A great way to narrow it down is by reading favorite authors promoting others’ work.

You should see my romance TBR pile. Many of these are acquired this way.

Thanks for reading. What draws you to picking up new books?

Thanks to GReads! for hosting! And TGIF!

This week’s question: Buy or Borrow: Where do your books that you read come from? The bookstore? The library? Do you prefer to own a book, or have it on loan?

I love buying books. I love the feel of them, owning them to read and re-read at my leisure. I love the look of them displayed in bookcases. I buy from booksellers online, from major retailers, from used bookstores, everywhere!

But I also love to use the library.

My local library is amazing. It has a wonderful selection. I can borrow, read and give back without the clutter or the cost! And best of all, if I really love the book, I’ll buy it anyway!

And of course, I have to mention my fellow book buying/borrowing junkie A from RNSL. I borrow books from her all the time!

The below is a small sample I have borrowed from friends or the library, but loved them so much, I bought my own copy!

So really, I guess I’ll buy and borrow books from just about anywhere and anyone.
What about you?

Another thing that makes Fridays awesome!

This week’s question: Recommend It: Which book from the last 10 you’ve read would you recommend to a friend?

Well, I did recommend this to my friend who loves Rebecca as much as I do:

For everyone, I would recommend:

And for my friends who are looking for awesome sequels that live up to the debut…

I also want to add I’ve been very very lucky this year so far with my reading. I have read wonderful books and it’s only mid-January! I’m looking forward to an incredible book reading year ahead!

That said, I also want to thank you, yes YOU!, for stopping by, reading the blog and leaving comments. Thank you so much!

On that note: What have you read recently that you would recommend?

Happy TGIF!
Yay!
