Review:

Catarina Marin is on the run. She’s hiding out in Miami as an escort when she gets booked for the first time by Mafiya boss Maksimilian Sevastyan. She is not what he ordered. And he is not what she was expecting.

The Master is hard to review for me because it almost feels like two different kinds of books. Cole’s writing is always solid, bringing the reader into the scene and making them forget how long they’ve been reading. It’s an erotica book with graphic scenes and some BDSM thrown in there. It’s a romance book about two different people who find love in a very unsuspecting place.

I’m not going to lie. I think the plot is on the thin side. There’s some tension and flashbacks to show why Cat is on the run which was interesting. But the big bad Edward was not very developed and even Cat and Maxim aren’t fleshed out. Which brings me to my point about how it’s kinda like two books. It almost wants to be a romance book, but wasn’t emotional enough for me. The beginning starts off slow as well, but picks up after the first couple of chapters, right when you get a better feeling of Maxim and Cat.

So why did I keep reading? Because Cole knows how to write a romance scene. Because for some reason that eludes me, this book is kinda like crack. You know it’s bad for you yet you keep going. Some of the dialogue was a little over the top for me as well as some of the tension between the couple, especially at the end. Maxim seems to have a short fuse and Cat does everything she can to light it.

Overall, I think The Master is a fun read with steamy sexy scenes that will quench any Cole fan’s thirst.
