Review:

She’s back!

Mia is back, all grown up, and still my favorite princess. She’s going out with/engaged to her wonderful love Michael. But being a princess is hard. But planning a wedding with her grandmother’s watchful eye isn’t easy. Throw in the fact that her father is suffering from a major breakdown. And Mia’s got extra security due to a stalker. And there’s a big huge secret that is revealed…

Just another day for Mia!

Love love love. Reading Meg Cabot’s Princess Diaries series is like coming home. This is the eleventh book in the series, and the first adult fiction book where Mia is grown up.  (The other ones are categorized as YA)

There is so much to love about Mia and her crazy family. Her free spirited Mom and warm-hearted but obviously clueless father, her cold, hilarious and strong grandmother, her sweet boyfriend. And of course, Mia’s friends.

Mia’s adventure this time around was totally worth waiting for. I loved picturing Mia as an adult, trying o do good and help people while also fumbling along the way. She’s a hilarious person, real and flawed and makes bad decisions, good decisions and crazy decisions! It was extra fun for me because I loved all the adult jokes between Mia and Michael (playing firefighter?). I feel like I grew up with them so it’s awesome to see your friends again years later! (I do realize that they are fictional characters. I’m not that crazy)

The story moves fast with a lot of fun ups and downs and surprises. Mia’s voice is the same as I remember her to be and there’s some wonderful closure to some of the secondary storylines from the original series.

Bravo Meg Cabot. You’ve delighted me again.

If you loved the original Princess Diaries series or the films, don’t miss Royal Wedding!
