Review:

Jillian has moved to a remote location in order to find peace after surviving a demon attack. She did not expect to find a handsome stranger, unconscious in the snow on her property. Taking him in, she learns he has amnesia but he can remember his name is Reseph. And when murders take place around them, Jillian and Reseph have to find information ab out Reseph’s past fast, and why he was discovered around the time these murders took place.

I really like Jillian. She is strong, tough and self sufficient.Reseph and Pestilence are so different, I wasn’t sure how I was going to forgive Reseph. Yes, it wasn’t Reseph that started war on mankind and singled out his brothers and sister for destruction. But Pestilence is the evil in Reseph, so it is hard to ignore. Luckily, Ione does a good job at making Reseph a sympathetic character.

I was really looking forward to reading Reseph’s story as he is the one with the longest road toward redemption. Jillian is a great female love interest for him as she is loyal and super strong minded, much more so than Reseph. But I’m sad to say I didn’t really feel the chemistry between these two characters. I liked each of them enough separately, but together, their romance felt rushed. By the end, I didn’t feel like Reseph’s transformation was complete. Maybe there was just too much going on in this book.

Of course it’s always good to see familiar faces again, even for a little while. Some fun characters from the Demonica series show up and Ione always writes funny dialogue, showing a lot more depth to each of her characters.

It’s still a solid book in this fun series. Just not a favorite.

Rating: 6 Good, but wouldn’t own a copy
