Review:
A modern retelling of Lady Chatterley’s Lover.

Connie Chatterley arrives in Silicon Valley with her boyfriend, the
genius Cliff. But as Cliff becomes more focused on his work, and not paying any emotional or physical attention to Connie, Connie is totally alone and lonely. That is, until she meets Oliver Mellors- ex-marine, physical coach and all around hotness. Mellors awakens something in Connie that she thought was gone and starts down a path she doesn’t know how will end. Nor does she know how she wants it to.

I’ve never read the original D.H. Lawrence classic, so I can’t compare the two. But this first book was so much fun.

Hot, raw and a fast read, we’re thrown into Connie’s mind as she leaves her NYC comfortable surroundings, friends and family and begins to live in Silicone Valley. There, she’s lonely and Cliff seems to totally forget her existence completely.

Then there’s Ivy, Cliff’s assistant and second in command, who is just bad news with a capital B!

Cliff is sweet, yet absentminded character. He does seem to love Connie, but he is so selfish and consumed by his growing company, he doesn’t see anything around him. Coupled with a vengeful second in command, and Connie is pushed to the background, a viewer in her own life.
Now, of course Mellors is hot. Of course he’s bad ass.

But I’m not sure I totally buy whatever their attraction is. There’s nothing really special about Connie or Mellors, in fact. So character wise, they are not very interesting. However, once they start their relationship, it’s fast, furious and sexy. But character wise, I feel like something is missing.

Overall, the first installment in the series (this is a four part serial) is strong, engaging and a fast read.

I immediately started the second part!
