Review

Beth Risk’s home life is anything but perfect and everyone knows it. Her father is gone, her mother is a mess with an abusive boyfriend. After a series of bad, Beth finds herself living with the uncle and starting a new school, leaving her old friends and life behind. But all she wants to do is get back…

Ryan Stone’s home life is perfect. At least, that’s what it looks like to everyone on the outside. But in reality, it is anything but. When he meets Beth as part of a dare, he doesn’t expect her to change him in ways that he never thought possible. To challenge him. But can he convince her to stay with him before she goes back to her old life?

I really liked Pushing The Limits, McGarry’s first book and was looking forward to Dare You To. And it didn’t disappoint!

Ryan is a very sweet, and noble character. Yes, he has issues, but overall, he’s a good guy. A golden boy, with a layer of complicated underneath. I loved his knight in shining armor personality. It was wholesome without being too goody goody.
Beth is rough. She’s angry, she’s bitter, she trusts no one. She made me want to scream at her. And I love her. She’s just the right amount of spice, fierceness and edge that evens out Ryan. They balance each other nicely.

The story moves quickly, and we see Noah and Echo from book one a little bit, which I love! We enter into Ryan’s not so perfect world and experience Beth and her problems. There’s a lot going on in the story, but it’s easy to fall in love with the characters and root for them to end up together.

Yes, there’s some cheese. But I think the world could do with some more!

Overall, a page turner, well developed characters, heartbreak and some bittersweet moments that will have you sighing.

If you love realistic YA romance, then this is for you!
