Hey Friends!

One of my New Years Resolutions is to listen to more Audiobooks. I’ve even entered a challenge for it! I’m in the car a lot these days, mostly due to my commute. Los Angeles traffic is a beast so I try to pass the time anyway I can!

Here are my Top Five that I’m really looking forward to listening to!

Talking As Fast As I Can by Lauren Graham – I am a fan of Lauren Graham and I heard this audiobook is really good, especially because she reads it herself. While I like Gilmore Girls (sadly not the revival so much) I’m interested in hearing Graham’s stories behind the scenes and this very talented and intelligent Hollywood woman is someone to admire.

Victoria by Daisy Goodwin – I keep meaning to read Daisy Goodwin. I have The Fortune Hunter and The American Heiress on my shelf forever. But Victoria is the one that I will probably start with. She is fascinating and I am eager to dive into this fictionalized account of her world, lead by a respected storyteller.

Forensics: What Bugs, Burns, Prints, DNA, and More Tell Us About Crime by Val McDermid – I’m currently listening to this audiobook and it’s already creeping me out in the best way. There’s something so interesting to me about forensics (I admit I suffer from the CSI effect) so this book has already been interesting and informative. I haven’t read McDermid’s crime fiction, but it’s obvious to see why she is so popular. Her writing is haunting.

Wild by Cheryl Strayed – Yes, of course I am behind everyone else. The hype around Wild has not been lost on me. People who are not readers rave about Wild and I know I’ve been missing out on something. Like A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson, I love adventure nature stories that tell you so much about the narrator. I’m very eager to try this one. Though I doubt I will suddenly take up hiking and want to go to the trail, something I think my husband is sad about being a nature/outdoorsy person himself.

Missing, Presumed by Susie Steiner – Sometimes you just need a thriller. I’m in the car for over two hours a day on my work commute, not including errands or if I have a lunch somewhere. So I like the idea of listening to fun thrillers in the car that make my drive a lot better. I’ve heard good things about this one and I find that the sometimes 2 hour one way commute, (when it rains in Los Angeles there is massive panic) isn’t so bad if I’m finger-biting my way through a good thriller.

Are you looking forward to any particular Audiobook?
