This was a lot of fun.
I was tagged by Stephanie from Five Alarm Book Reviews and she came up with these awesome questions for me. (BTW, if you haven’t visited Five Alarm, you should! Besides the beautiful blog and awesome reviews, she hosts the weekly Shelf Candy. Go on, get your dose of sugar!)

1. What made you want to start blogging?
My very supportive friend, Alethea from Read Now Sleep Later, has been blogging for a long time and she graciously allowed me to do some guest posts on her blog. I liked it so much, I wanted to start my own!

2. How long have you been blogging?
Not very long. I started in August 2011.

3. Who are some of your favorite book bloggers? Why?
My favorites are anyone I tagged below! Ha! I visit them regularly and not only do I enjoy reading their reviews, I like the the layout of their blogs as well. I also appreciate the frequency that they review.
The Book Monsters has a wonderful feature titled “Design It Up” about tricks to designing your blog, which I have found very helpful.
Bookyurt’s blog has not only book reviews, but film news and other fun stuff as well.
And Mystifying Paranormal Reads is a great reference for me when I want some fun paranormal book. There are so many books in that genre, not all of them good, I like reading a review before picking it up for myself.
I also really like it that we don’t all agree. I enjoy reading others’ opinions on books.

4. What series have you not even started that you would still like to dive into?
Surprisingly, I am the last one on the planet to read the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. That’s one of the goals this year- Start that trilogy!

5. What are your other passions besides books?
I love to write. I went to college for Songwriting and enjoyed every minute of it. I play piano and guitar, both very poorly, and enjoy singing. And I knit. I love yarn.

6. How many books on average do you read a year? Do you review them all? Is it hard to keep up?
Recently the number has gone up, but it looks like it’s about 100 books a year, depending on what kind of mood I’m in. I don’t review them all, but I do mark them on Goodreads, my favorite site ever. I do feel pressure to keep up, especially if I get the book to review for free. I feel like those should be read and reviewed first. It doesn’t alter my review in any way, but it moves it up to the TBR pile faster.

7. What are you reading right now? What do you think of it so far?
Right now, I’m reading Shooting Stars by Allison Rushby. I’m enjoying it! It’s fun, light and I like Jo’s voice and independent nature. About a quarter of the way through.

8. What is your favorite series? Why?
Of course, there is Harry Potter. The richness of the world and heroic story about good verses bad is universal. I cried a lot during those books.

I also love The Vampire Academy- the coming of age story with paranormal fun.
The Black Dagger Brotherhood- the brothers are so much fun to listen to, the romance is hot and steamy and the adventure and thrilling war with the evil Lessers keep me up through the night.
Wicked Lovely- Magical, I love re-reading this series and getting lost in the emotions and lands of the fey.
And the Dublin Murder Swad series by Tana French. Really well written, beautifully crafted murder mysteries taking place in Ireland around detectives confronting their pasts. I am crazy about this series.

9. What one book are you always eager to talk about?
Jurassic Park. I’ve met so many people that have such fond memories about that book, and when they saw the film for the first time.

10. Where is your favorite reading spot?
I love reading at home, either outside in the backyard or inside in a big comfy chair near a window. Always with tea. And a cookie. Or three.

My questions for Those I Have Tagged
1. How did you get into blogging?
2. What fictional character would you most want to be best friends with?
3. What fictional world would you like to visit for one day? As character or as yourself?
4. How do you buy the majority of your books? Indie book store? Larger chain or Internet retailers?
5. Do you buy a book based on its cover?
6. What does your TBR pile look like? (Picture?)
7. eReader vs. Physical book. What do you own and Which do you prefer?
8. Coffee or tea?
9. What was the last book you bought?
10. Most of the time, do you read the book first, or watch the movie/tv show first?
